Rod Laver is back in his home continent visiting this year’s AO. He had a little meeting with Rafa, and, fortunately for us fans, the folks at the AO got a video of the two tennis greats together:
There’s also this great video of Laver’s interview with the press. He reflects on changes in the game, Hawkeye, Lleyton Hewitt and Bernard Tomic. On linesman in his day: “you look back and the linesman is asleep.” Laver seems to be a genuinely charming guy, the type you could sit down on the porch and have a nice long chat about tennis with. It’s great to see him back at the AO.
The WTA is talking about reducing all the shrieking happening in the women’s game. While I understand how it can bother players, it’s never bothered me as a fan, and I’m a little surprised it bothers other fans this much.

Tonight’s line up looks awesome: Clijsters v Azarenka, Sharapova v Kvitova, and, the icing on the cake, Nadal v Federer. I don’t think I’ll be getting any sleep tonight!
